January 5k Handicap.

The first handicap of 2022 was a small affair, with many regulars missing for various reasons - I’m sure the cold conditions wouldn’t have played a part! Just four runners were competing for the January trophy. They were joined by 3 others; Lisa and Reis running their qualifying runs, whilst Pippa very kindly agreed to show Lisa the way round.

After the first lap, it looked as though the competition would be between Lucy and Tina, both of them were running well. The second lap confirmed this, but Tina had closed significantly on Lucy. Andy and Emilia were locked in a battle of their own.

The first runner home was Reis, in a time of 21.57, not bad for a first attempt, and he ended as quickest runner of the evening.

In the handicap itself, Tina was first home in a new PB time of 23.07. A great run. Lucy was second, still in the 26 minute bracket, but an improvement over last month. I’m sure a 25 minute run is going to come soon. Emilia and Andy couldn’t be separated and crossed the line together. Lisa and Pippa finished in 30.21, a time Lisa was very pleased with, and her best 5k time.

Lets hope for better weather in February, and maybe a few more runners.

Many thanks to all that took part, and to Val, Michelle, Mark and Sandra for marshalling.
